Al Bello began his career photographing boxing on the weekends while toiling in London Publishings dark room during the week. Since joining Allsport/Getty Images in 1993, Al has become a Senior Photographer assigned to cover sporting events and people in sport worldwide.
Al's favorite events covered include the Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup and World Cup Soccer. He has covered two Winter and Summer Olympic Games, the US Open, French Open and Wimbledon. Boxing remains his favorite sport; Al has been to countless world title fights and boxing gyms in the last 13 years and he never tires of it.
Al's photographic skills extend beyond event coverage. He enjoys working with athletes one-on-one. He is competent in studio and on location lighting. He works in 35mm and medium format. He uses both film and digital cameras and is fully capable of transmitting photos on site.
On a personal note, Al lives in Merrick, New York.
He enjoys spending every second of his off time with his wife and two kids.
