Marvi Lacar
Marvi Lacar was born in 1976 in the Philippines and moved to the United States at the age of 15. After receiving her BA in health sciences, she worked in non-profit organisations focusing on women’s health and migrant health issues, an experience which led her to pursue a master’s degree in journalism. While in graduate school, she completed a fellowship at the Poynter Institute and internships at The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Orange County Register.

Lacar lives in New York City with her husband, Ben, and their two dogs, Spud and Wheat.
