Ann Summa, photographer based in Los Angeles and Mexico, specializes in environmental, corporate and celebrity portraiture. Shooting professionally for over 20 years, and primarily on location, Summa is able to bring out her subjects' personality with her distinctive style. She shoots mainly medium and large format, adding interest and beauty with unconventional framing as well as with her crisp and expert lighting techniques. Represented by Getty Images for 8 years, Summa has also pursued various feature, lifestyle and travel assignments.
Summas early work has been featured in many books and exhibitions, the most recent being a high profile one-woman show in Chinatown. Her work has also been honored by inclusion in 2001 and 2002 on the American Photography-17 and AP-18 website. Summa received a grant to photograph the women of the Los Angeles riots in the early '90s. She has taught a course in professional photography at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles for 10 years, and enjoys mentoring young photographers. She graduated cum laude from Beloit College, and also studied at Art Center in Pasadena. Her clients include People Weekly, Fortune, ESPN the Magazine, Budget Living, Garden Design, Parenting and many others.
